A POLICE officer was assaulted in Reading yesterday after trying to help a man lying on the ground at a platform.
Staff were concerned for the man, who was 'behaving strangely'.

British Transport Police Berkshire said the man "took exception to our offer of help committing public order offences and assaulting the officer.
"He is currently in custody awaiting interview."
