GP surgeries across the country have been rated by patients as part of the 2020 GP Patient Survey and we can now reveal which are the best and worst surgeries in Reading and the surrounding areas based on patient waiting times.
The survey, created by NHS England and Ipsos MORI, looks at patients’ overall experience of primary care services and their overall experience of accessing these services.
This includes how long after their appointment time patients waited to see or speak to a healthcare professional.

Falkland Surgery in Newbury had the longest patient waiting times with 22 per cent of survey respondents waiting more than 30 minutes after their appointment time to see or speak to a healthcare professional.
Chatham Street Surgery in Reading followed with 18 per cent of patients who responded to the survey waiting for more than 30 minutes after their appointment time.
Tilehurst Village Surgery, Eastfield House Surgery (Newbury) and Grovelands Medical Centre (Reading) all had 15 per cent of their survey respondents waiting for more than 30 minutes after their appointment time to see a health care professional.
Conversely, at Lambourn Surgery, 39 per cent of patients who took the survey waited for five minutes or less after their appointment time to see or speak to a health care professional.
Twyford Surgery closely followed with 36 percent of its respondents waiting five minutes or less.

Just 2 per cent of its survey respondents waited more than 30 minutes after their appointment time to see a healthcare professional.
Abbey Medical Centre, Balmore Park Surgery and Hungerford Surgery came in joint third with 32 per cent of their patients who responded waiting five minutes or less to see a healthcare professional after their appointment time.
The number of patients responding to the questionnaires varies between each GP surgery.
Across the country, the latest survey consisted of around 2.3 million postal questionnaires sent out to adults registered with GP practices in England from January 2020 to the end of March 2020.
About 740,000 patients completed and returned the form, meaning there was a national response rate of 31.7 per cent according to NHS England.
