CALLS for a busy stretch of road in the town centre to become pedestrianised have been made by locals.
Oxford Road has been closed to traffic in order for repairs to be carried out, and some have asked for a 'permanent pedestrianising' of the section of the road.
Christopher on Twitter said to Reading Borough Council (RBC): "With the rerouting of several bus routes pretty painless you have closed Oxford Street to traffic to repair the road.
"How about permanently pedestrianising this busy stretch?
"What about Market Place too? Where could you reroute the buses there? #rdguk #Reading
@ReadingCouncil."
