This is in order to make way for a new community centre at the site, which is part of the Wokingham Borough Council's (WBC) latest development plans for Shinfield, including new homes, a supermarket and other shops, two new local primary schools, and a neighbourhood centre in Spencers Wood.
The WBC made the announcement that progress would begin in mid-July, saying demolition of the old building would take place in August.

Cllr Parry Batth, executive member for environment and leisure said: "It is wonderful to be working so closely with Shinfield Parish Council to bring the local community together.
"The centre has been designed to be able to host a wide variety of activities and events so there will be something for everyone, the hub of the community."
The centre is expected to open in late 2021.
