A YELLOW weather warning has been put in place this week for areas in the south including Reading and Bracknell as Storm Francis is predicted to bring very strong winds.

This could lead to disruption to travel and power supplies, along with potential damage to trees in both towns, according to the Met Office.

Reading can expect a 40 per cent chance of rain for the rest of the day (August 25), while Bracknell has a 70 per cent chance until 12pm, where the chance of rain drops slightly to 50 per cent for the day.

Tonight:

It will be largely dry with some clear spells developing overnight.

It will remain very windy, with the risk of gales in places.

Minimum temperature 14 °C.

Wednesday:

After a cloudy start, it will be dry with bright or sunny spells developing in some areas.

Winds will continue to ease and sunshine can be expected. Maximum temperature 22 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Further spells of showery rain on Thursday.

Windy and cool with showers which will be heavy at times on Friday.

Sunshine and showers on Saturday, but feeling cool in the wind.

Chilly nights can also be expected.

The Met Office has warned that injuries and danger to life from flying debris is possible, as well as some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.

Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible, and some roads and bridges may close.

Power cuts could occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
