The Symptom Study app has been developed by health science company ZOE and is being analysed in collaboration with King's College London researchers in order to learn more about the virus.
It shows that thousands of people in the town have experienced what they believed could have been symptoms, but a high majority of these have not been confirmed as positive cases.
It is not known how many of the contributors have undergone a Covid-19 test.
By exploring the map of users, it can be seen that that 2,822 contributions have been made by people in Reading, helping the NHS with vital studies.
The map also reveals that Reading has an estimated number of 736 active cases per million, and an presumed 78 active cases at the moment.
