An illegal encampment of travellers has been evicted from Thameside Promenade, after weeks of delay.
On Friday, September 11, Reading Borough Council (RBC) was finally granted permission by Slough Magistrates Court to use section 78 powers to evict the encampment.
The travellers had taken over the space for “a number of weeks”, with some reporting it had been there for several months.

Two previously scheduled court hearings earlier this summer were postponed with a hearing finally taking place last week.
Following the serving of the notice, the travellers moved on Wednesday, September 16.
A spokesman for RBC said the council is “relieved” that the travellers have left the site and that the “frustrating” delays had finally come to an end.
