RECORDED cases of domestic violence in Reading has risen year on year, with reports almost doubling since 2017.
New Thames Valley Police (TVP) data has revealed that, in the 2017/2018 period, recorded domestic abuse incidents in Reading totalled to 1,364.

This jumped to 2,114 in the 2018/19 period and for the latest year (April 2019 – March 2020), there were 2,575 cases – almost double the 2017 figure.
This shows a 21.8 per cent increase in domestic abuse across the three-year period.
TVP recently released its newest crime summary, showing the number of specific crimes recorded since 2017.
Data also shows how many of these incidents saw legal outcomes.
In the 2017/18 year, 251 outcomes of domestic abuse were recorded.

This dropped to 243 the following year and was recorded as 246 for the most recent year available.
