A warehouse in west Reading could be transformed into a gymnastics and parkour centre.
Plans have been submitted by Virtue Gymnastics to turn the vacant industrial building on 28 Portman Road into a leisure centre focused on indoor free running and gymnastics.
The site has been vacant for nearly four years and is close to other leisure facilities, including RedKangaroo Trampoline Park, TNT Gym and a dance studio.

Virtue Gymnastics is a Reading-based company which provides indoor gymnastics and free running/parkour facilities to people of all ages, abilities and disciplines.
They are affiliated with British Gymnastics and Get Berkshire Active, have strong links within the parkour community and have been operating for more than four years in Reading.
Virtue Gymnastics currently rent two schools and a sports centre to host classes but says it is “in desperate need” of a permanent facility so that permanent equipment can be installed rather than less suitable temporary and removable equipment.
Currently parents and guardians have to make multiple trips to different sites for differently aged children, resulting in “inconvenient and unsustainable” trips.

Virtue Gymnastics say moving to Portman Road will allow it to while consolidating activities in one location, allowing for more permanent equipment to be installed and a more efficient operation.
It will also be able to expand its timetable and add new classes to meet the demand to provide services to disadvantaged kids and the elderly.
The company says it currently has a waiting list of more than 300 children.
