ENGLAND is back in lockdown and the government advice is to stay at home as much as possible.
However, there are a few exceptions to the rule and people can leave their homes to get some outdoor exercise.

Luckily, there are some fantastic walking routes in and around Reading; following them will keep you active and also let you explore places in the region you might not have visited before.
You can embark on these walks solo, with people you live with, or you can meet up with one other person from another household.

Here are five local walking routes which are perfect to explore on a crisp, autumnal day in lockdown:
Bowdown Woods, Thatcham
Bowdown and Chamberhouse Woods is a 67.9-hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of Thatcham, West Berkshire.
With mysterious hidden valleys, sunny glades, patches of heathland and a natural playground - you will have a fun filled walk to enjoy this lockdown.
Gorrick Woods

If you fancy a long 5k walk around a lake then visit Wokingham's Gorrick Woods. The trees still have their autumnal colours and you can walk around the lake too.
Walking boots or wellies are advised as it can get a little muddy.
Caversham Court Gardens.

Enjoy a piece of Reading's history and enjoy the autumn colours in Caversham Court Gardens.
It features beautiful public gardens and a mansion perfect for taking some unique pictures along your walk.
Thames Valley Park

Living near a town as its perks when you have a beautiful walking route at your doorstep.
You can enjoy a lovely walk next to the river and enjoy the meadows as your back drop. It offers the perfect place for escapism from the town centre.
River Kennet

You can enjoy a three mile loop around Reading's rivers, the Thames and Kennet.
It's a gorgeous walk along the river and although the trees have turned yellow and brown, there's nothing better than soaking up the sun and breathing in the fresh air.
