READING may be among the towns plunged into Tier 4, but that hasn't stopped a local home from winning a festive competition.

Houses across the country submitted pictures showing their Christmas decorations to Zoopla's competition, and one in Reading has been named as the winner of the UK's Most Festive Home.

Owner Joanna has also won a £500 homeowner voucher - just in time for the big day.

She said: "I often hear screams of excitement outside, and it's not just children but adults too.

"I like to think that my display gives people a chance to forget about everything going on and just enjoy a bit of magic for a moment. "People sometimes message me to say thank you, some send me pictures of their kids posing happily in front of the house.

"One lady left a comment recently under a picture I posted on a local Facebook group and it really made my day."

The message read: "We popped by today.

"Your house really does bring joy to so many.
