FORENSIC teams are today scouring the park where a teenager was fatally stabbed prompting a murder investigation in Reading.

Swarms of Thames Valley Police officers were called to reports of a stabbing at Bugs Bottom fields, near Barnabas Road and Gravel Hill, Emmer Green, shortly before 4pm.

The force confirmed the 13-year-old victim died of his injuries and five teenagers have since been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Pictures from the scene show a large cordon remains in place today as forensic tents have been erected within the large popular park.

Officers are manning the cordon where the roads meet between Hunters Chase and Tredegar Road - the pathway into Bugs Bottom is the only area cordoned off and the two roads are not taped off.

Thames Valley Police has said it is a 'very active' investigation and the large scene watch will remain in place for some time.
