MORE THAN 1000 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Berkshire in the past 24 hours, following Prime Minister Boris Johnson's announcement of a third national lockdown.
A total of 1,084 positive Covid-19 cases have been reported by Public Health England in Berkshire in the past day.
These lab-confirmed cases are from areas including Reading, Bracknell, Wokingham, West Berkshire, Slough and Windsor and Maidenhead.
These figures, correct as Tuesday, January 5, bring the county's lab-confirmed positive Covid-19 tests total to 32,804, according to Public Health England.

The local breakdown for the past 24 hours as follows:
Bracknell - 145 cases, 4,296 total
Wokingham - 178 cases, 5,125 total
West Berkshire - 63 cases, 3,746 total
Slough - 289 cases, 8,426 total
Windsor and Maidenhead - 219 cases, 5,307 total
Reading - 188 cases, 5,894 total
The latest seven-day rate per 100,000 people locally are as follows:
Bracknell - 784.2
Wokingham - 557.5
West Berkshire - 390
Slough - 1003.8
Windsor and Maidenhead - 685.5
Reading - 558.8
There have now been 2, 774,479 cases of Covid-19 across the UK – as of Tuesday, January 5, at 4pm. This was an increase of 60,916 cases in the past 24 hours.

In the national news today:
A further 582 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died in hospital in England, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals to 52,395, NHS England said on Tuesday.
Patients were aged between 29 and 103. All except 25, aged between 56 and 101, had known underlying health conditions.
The deaths were between November 5 and January 4, with the majority being on or after January 1.
There were 20 other deaths reported with no positive Covid-19 test result.
