POLICE have warned members of the public that sharing and posting comments online, referring to the murder investigation in Emmer Green may be considered a criminal offence.
The warning follows after the death of teenager Olly Stephens, aged 13, who was fatally stabbed in Bugs Bottom fields, Reading, on Sunday, January 3.

Since the attack five arrests have been made.
Following this, Thames Valley Police issued a statement on Twitter earlier this afternoon, addressing those who were attempting to name "individuals who may/may not be connected" to the investigation.
The police force added that it could be a criminal offence to share any details that could prejudice a future trial or equally cause harassment 'if misdirected to those not connected with the investigation'.Instead of posting claims online, the police urged online users who believe they have information on the case to report it to them either anonymously on 0800 555 111, or by reporting online.
In a Thread, Thames Valley Police said:

Publicly identifying those who you believe are connected to Olly’s death may be a criminal offence at this time and may prejudice any future trial as well as causing harassment and distress if misdirected to individuals not connected to this investigation.
