OVER the past year the coronavirus pandemic has continued to affect our everyday lives.
It has almost been a year since the first Covid-19 death was reported in the UK at the Royal Berkshire Hospital on March 6, 2020.
Since the pandemic started, a total of 9,001 people have tested positive for the virus in Reading.
This is according to the latest data released by Public Health England on Sunday, January 24, at 4pm.

A total of 125 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Reading in the last 24 hours.
The number of people who have died within 28 days of a positive test in Reading stands at 211.
Three people lost their lives due to Covid-19 in the past 24 hours in Reading.
Since the UK started rolling out its vaccination programme, a total of 6,353,321 people have had their first dose.
469,660 people have had their second dose of the vaccine.
England is currently in its third lockdown which means people are only able to leave their house for essential activities such as buying groceries or to provide care to another person.
Non-essential retail has also closed.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock has warned the Government is still a “long, long, long way off” being able to lift lockdown restrictions in England.
Despite saying there was clear evidence to suggest lockdown restrictions were working the health secretary said that case numbers were still “incredibly high”.

“There is early evidence that the lockdown is starting to bring cases down but we are a long, long, long way from being low enough because the case rate was incredibly high,” he told Sky News’s Sophy Ridge on Sunday programme.
“You can see the pressure on the NHS – you can see it every day.”
