According to Police.UK, the most common five crimes in Reading from the last three years (January 2018 - November 2020) are:
1. Violence and sexual offences
Throughout the period, 5,207 cases involved violence and/or sexual offences.
This makes up the majority (28.2 per cent) of all crime in the town.
2. Anti-social behaviour
During the three years, anti-social behaviour was another common crime, accounting for 11.8 per cent (2169) of all reports.
3. Other theft
'Other' theft covers thefts of items not included in shoplifting or bike theft.
Throughout the period, this kind of crime made up 10.6 per cent (1956) of all reports.

4. Shoplifting
Shoplifting in Reading was the fourth most reported crime in the three years, making up 10.2 per cent (1880) of crimes.
5. Criminal damage and arson
Worryingly, criminal damage and arson is also a common crime in the town.
Throughout the period, this accounted for 6.4 per cent (1185) of crimes.
