IS bad parking a nightmare where you live?

For months on end pavement parking in Reading has been fiercely debated - with residents, groups and councillors outraged by the fact that motorists are still getting away with it, despite the dangers.

However, some claim the rules are too harsh and sometimes it might be safer to park on the cobbles.

In April 2020, a national inquiry was launched into putting a stop to drivers parking their wheels on the kerb.

They invited people to share their experiences and suggest a solution as to parking on pavements could be tackled.

As it is, there is no national ban against either on-street parking or pavement parking except in the latter case in the capital.

However, it is an offence to drive onto the pavement - with the intention to park or not.

Because this is a criminal offence, as opposed to the vast majority of civil parking offences, it is enforceable by the police, not councils.
