Police have stepped up stop and search patrols whilst a Section 60 order is in place in Reading.

Thames Valley Police officers have carried out targeted patrols in the town following the death of a 26-year-old man.

Whilst the murder investigation is underway, officers have increased patrols around Reading under the Section 60 order.

This order gives police temporary powers to stop and search anyone within the area on the map.

One man has been arrested after police found a knife in Whitley.

Police also said they found some drugs in the same area too.

They said: "Completed a busy late shift today, including targeted patrols conducting several stop searches under the S60. Officers have located some drugs, as well as finding a knife on a young man in Whitley. Enquiries ongoing at this time."
