MAJOR stabbings have shaken the town recently, with five serious knife-related incidents having already taken place during the 43 days of 2021, leaving two lives lost.
Sadly, knife crime in Reading has seen a huge increase recently, with several serious incidents in 2020.
The Reading Chronicle want to get behind calls to prevent and tackle the problem, and will be highlighting the issue to address causes and potential solutions.

Below, we have mapped the areas that have seen stabbings in from January 1 - February 11, 2021.

Timeline of stabbings in Reading in 2021
JANUARY 1: A man is stabbed just hours into the new year in Crane Close, Shinfield Road, Reading
JANUARY 3: 13-year-old Olly Stephens is stabbed to death in Emmer Green.
Three teenagers have since been charged with his murder.
JANUARY 11: Khairi Saadallah is jailed for life for Forbury Gardens terror stabbings, which took place in June 2020.
JANUARY 14: A man in his twenties is stabbed in Battle Square near Oxford Road
JANUARY 18: A man in his 40s is stabbed in Church Street
FEBRUARY 6: A 26-year-old man dies after being stabbed in Tilehurst

Thames Valley Police (TVP) are continuing to investigate each incident, while residents have expressed concerns at the sudden, frightening trend in the area.
