Reading has sadly seen a huge rise in knife crime lately.

Although it isn't a new issue, it's a growing and concerning one.

The Reading Chronicle want to get behind calls to prevent and tackle the problem, and will be launching a campaign to address causes and potential solutions.

Colin Leslie has worked with Berkshire Youth for two years, and said knife crime in the area is getting "out of control."

2. Asymptomatic testing begins in Reading: Are you eligible?

Local community Covid-19 testing is now underway in Reading.

Testing began at South Reading Leisure Centre on February 10 and a second community testing site went live at Rivermead Leisure Centre on Monday, February 15 – to stop the spread of the virus in Reading.

Around one in three people who have coronavirus have no symptoms and will be spreading the illness without realising it.

3. New council tax and benefits fines for 'deliberately misleading' Reading Council

New fines will be introduced in Reading for failing to tell the council about information related to housing benefits and council tax.

Under the new policy, approved on Monday evening (February 15), a £70 penalty will be handed out for failing to supply the council with the necessary information to establish your council tax liability.

4. Pair jailed for supplying crack cocaine and heroin in Reading

A pair of drug dealers who supplied crack cocaine and heroin in Reading have been jailed.

Maysam Miani, 19, of Albert Road, Brent, London and Hannah Morrison,37, of Rembrandt Way, Reading, have been sentenced for drug offences in Reading.

Thames Valley Police carried out a search in a property in Rembrandt Way and arrested the pair on June 16 last year.

5. Murder investigation update: Police officially reveal identity of victim

Police have officially revealed the name of the man who was stabbed to death in Caversham on Valentine's Day.

The 24-year-old has been formally identified as Yannick Cupido.

The Chronicle first reported tributes to the victim days ago, but detectives are now in a position to officially publish a name.
