GOOGLE is using location data gathered from phones to help public health officials understand how people’s movements have changed in response to the global coronavirus pandemic.
The reports use data from people who have opted in to storing their location history with Google to help illustrate the degree to which people are adhering to government instructions.
The Covid-19 Community Mobility Report dated February 20, 2021, looks at data between January 9, 2021, and February 20, 2021.

The data shows there has been a rise in the number of people visiting parks (a 39 per cent increase compared to the baseline).
More people are also visiting residential areas (a 14 per cent increase compared to the baseline).
Fewer people are using public transport such as trains and buses. In fact, there has been a 75 per cent decrease compared to the baseline.
Supermarkets and pharmacy's have also seen a decrease in visitors (a 13 per cent decrease compared to the baseline).
The data comes as Boris Johnson confirmed secondary schools in England are set to receive added funding in order to run summer schools so that pupils can catch up with their education.

The Prime Minister has said £400million will be set aside for schools, on top of the £300million cash injection in January following the third national lockdown.
