Crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road and Dee Road fire stations were sent to the scene.
The service said upon arrival, crews found a crash involving three cars, with one man trapped inside one of the vehicles.
Crews worked to release the man from the vehicle and he was then placed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS).
Crews were on the scene for approximately 37 minutes.
SCAS said the driver had "neck and back pain" which is why the car roof was removed.
He was then taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for further assessment.
