A FAMILY has had their home ransacked by thieves who stole electrical goods and also Covid lateral flow tests.

Catherine Gray, 39, from Reading, explained thieves stole items from her home on Lincoln Road earlier this month.

Catherine lives with her two sons Declan, 14, and Tristan 5, who both have autism.

She explained she went downstairs on the morning of Thursday, April 15, to find her home "absolutely trashed" and the back door open.

Memory boxes she had created for her son's, including their first clothes, were on the floor.

Looking around the house she found items had been stolen including a Playstation 4, laptop and tablet.

Catherine also found a box of nail varnish and clippers had been stolen and Covid-19 lateral flow tests.

An MP4 had also been stolen from her son's coat pocket along with his £20 pocket money.

Catherine said her handbag was stolen which had her keys inside but her car wasn't taken.

One of her keyrings had a photo of Tristan as a baby on it.

She said: "If I could get the key ring back that would be amazing if anyone sees it out."

Speaking about the burglary, Catherine said: "It was horrible, absolutely horrible to know that people had been rifling through (our things)."

She explained she is "nervous especially in the evenings" and will check doors "constantly" now.

A fundraiser has been set up to help Catherine replace some of the children's items.

So far, £615 has been raised.

Catherine said she is "absolutely overwhelmed" by people's response to the fundraiser.

She said people have been phoning and messaging her to check in.

Thames Valley Police said no arrests have been made.
