Police are being called to take action against poor parking on a road in Reading which could “endanger lives”.
Oli Butler, from Katesgrove, took to Twitter to showcase the issues he spotted on Northumberland Avenue earlier this week.

His snaps show:
- A DPD van parked entirely on a pavement on Christchurch Road.
- Another DPD van half-parked on a pavement adjacent to the narrow road on Northumberland Avenue, something Oli claimed was “endangering lives” as the van had parked in this spot when children were leaving nearby schools
- Two cars parked on white zig-zag lines near a pedestrian crossing on Northumberland Avenue
Posting on the social media website, Oli said: “@TVP_Reading Hi - would be good to see some active policing of basic road safety rules in Reading.”

Speaking to the Chronicle, he added: “I think in the war on speed the police just don’t seem to have any focus on very poor road behaviours like this which are also really dangerous, especially in an area with a very high concentration of schools.
“[It] needs some preventative/high profile policing and some tickets handing out.”

Mr Butler also contacted DPD to ask them about their parking.
A response from the DPD account read: “Safety is our number one priority so we will pass this on to the relevant team and we are going to follow up on the matter.”
Thames Valley Police was contacted for comment.
