1. Vigil for Woodley cow sees mourners pay respects and lay flowers
Mourners came together to pay their respects for a cow that was killed after being hit by a Thames Valley Police car.
A crowd of campaigners from Vegan Action for Animals gathered at 8pm on May 20 on Loddon Bridge Road, the road where the runaway cow was killed.

3. Coronavirus in Reading: Over half of Covid-19 cases was Indian variant
A Sage report has revealed that during a week earlier this month, 100 per cent of new Covid cases in Slough were the Indian variant.
Slough and Reading are two of the 23 areas in the country where the variant is becoming more prevalent over the strains previously reported.

4. Reading Tasty Greek Souvlaki restaurant enjoys anniversary
The owner of a restaurant in Reading has spoken about what it’s like to run a restaurant during a global pandemic.
Tasty Greek Souvlaki has celebrated its first anniversary. It has spent its entire lifetime operating in pandemic conditions.
The owner Luftar Rusta and his business partner Anxhelo Mertiri were aiming to open the restaurant last February but a “massive delay” in planning forced them to open later.
By the time they opened on Monday, May 18, 2020, Britain was already under full lockdown.

5. Judge jails Reading man for having child and animal porn
A former security guard will spend more than a year in prison after being caught with indecent images of children a judge said were “some of the worst” she had ever seen.
Michael Mitchell, of Havergate Way, Reading, will spend 16 months behind bars after downloading more than 1,000 images and videos of child and animal porn.
