The following cases were heard at Reading Magistrates Court
MAX CLARK, 24, of Geoffreyson Road, Caversham, Reading, admitted to driving while under the influence of cannabis on Church Road in Reading on August 26, 2020. He was fined £250, told to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and ordered to pay costs of £85. Banned from driving for 12 months.
SASHA WEEKS, 19, of Westcote Road, Reading, admitted to driving without a licence and without the correct insurance on Whitley Wood Road in Reading on February 9, 2021. She was fined £373, told to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and ordered to pay costs of £85. Also handed six points on her driving licence.
AAMIR AHMED, 39, of South Street, Reading, admitted racially aggravated harassment in Reading on September 12, 2020. He was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work as part of a community order, pay £100 in compensation, and court costs of £300.
INDERPAL GREWAL, 29, of Addington Road, Reading, admitted to drink-driving at Northcourt Avenue in Reading on October 10, 2020. He was stopped with 136 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the limit being 35mcg per 100ml. Grewal was ordered to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work as part of a community order handed to him and was banned from driving for 32 months. He was also told to pay a victim surcharge of £95 and court costs of £85.
March 10:
LOUIS DAVIES, 21, of Harrington Close, Newbury, admitted to beating a man in Reading on August 30, 2020. He was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work as part of a community order handed to him, pay compensation of £200, pay a victim surcharge of £95, and court costs of £85.
March 11:
NADEEM MOHAMMED, 28, of Catherine Street, Reading, admitted possession of two bags of cannabis in Reading on September 29, 2019. He was fined £100.
LUCIO MOREIRA, 27, of Crane Wharf, Reading, admitted two charges of breaching a restraining order between August 2019 and November 2019 in Reading - namely sending messages on Facebook and one another occasion shouting at someone through a car window both of which he was prohibited from. Moreira was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison due to the severity of the offence and it being committed while subject to a community order. Also told to pay a victim surcharge of £122.
GARETH RANDALL, 34, of The Henrys, Thatcham in West Berkshire, admitted to assault by beating in Thatcham on May 9, 2020, and admitted damaging a mobile phone on the same date in Thatcham. Randall was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work as part of a community order handed to him. He was also given a restraining order from the victim, and told to pay a victim surcharge of £95 and court costs of £85.
RICHARD EVANS, 40, of Elliot Close in West Berkshire, admitted harassment without violence by repeated contact via messages and email in Thatcham between July 15, 2020, and August 10, 2020. Given a conditional discharge order for 12 months and made subject to a restraining order. Must also pay £22 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
A fundamental principle of justice is that it must be seen to be done. It is acclaimed on a number of grounds: as a safeguard against judicial error, to assist the deterrent function of criminal trials and to permit the revelation of matters of interest.
