A thief posed as a police officer as he entered an elderly woman's home and stole a purse.

At around 8.50pm on Saturday, May 8, a man knocked on the door of a property in Springfield Park posing as a community officer from the police.

He has asked to go through the house into the garden.

The man then left the property claiming to get a call from a colleague.

Once the thief left, the victim, an elderly woman, has noticed her purse containing cash was missing.

Investigating Officer, Detective Constable Robert Chevalier, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: “I am releasing this image as I believe the individual may have information about what happened.

“If you recognise these people or if you think one of them is you, please get in touch.

“Further, I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident, or anyone with information about what happened, to please come forward.

“I’d also ask local residents with private CCTV or doorbell cameras to check any footage in case it may have captured something that could assist with the investigation.
