A regular at one of the town's Nando's restaurants said he was sick after he discovered a caterpillar in his dinner.
The man, who did not wish to be named, found the critter when tucking into his butterfly chicken dish.
He said the insect was found on his broccoli when he visited the Reading Gateway branch on Thursday, June 10.

Speaking to the Chronicle, he said: "I told the staff and they were very shocked. They got customer service to contact me.
"I'm very disappointed in them to be honest.
"I eat in this Nandos maybe three times a week and this is how they treat me."

The man said he threw up in the restaurant's bathroom after making the discovery, adding that his friend nearly vomited as well.
Nando's has offered the regular a £60 voucher in compensation.

A Nando's spokesperson said: "We have sincerely apologised to [the customer] for what happened, and regret any distress this event caused.
"Our health and safety team have conducted a comprehensive review of the processes at this restaurant.
"We are confident that this was an isolated incident, and have done everything we can to make sure it does not happen again.”
