“WE were incredibly moved by the tribute you created there and couldn't thank you enough.”

That’s the message from someone who knew one of the victims of the Forbury Gardens terror attack after they visited a special tribute for James Furlong, Joe Ritchie-Bennett and David Wails.

The tribute, pictured below, depicts the Maiwand Lion surrounded by three angels.

The artist known as ‘Peachy’, who has gained a reputation for his Banksy-esque street art popping up around Reading, added the design at Reading Bridge.

Peachy told the Chronicle about the design.

He said: “That piece seemed to have moved a lot of people and gained so much attention, many of the victims, families reached out to me, friends, cousins and family to say thank you and how much it meant to them.

“I wanted people to see 'beyond' what you initially see when you stand in front of spray paint on a wall.

“The image that was in front of them told a story and for many it was a beautiful tribute for them which all of a sudden was not even art or a painting anymore, but it told a story and reached out to them .

“People look at it and rather than seeing the image that I placed there alone, they all gain something else, memories, happy times, and then also sad times.

“If I can create works that can cause this to happen, the pieces will never stop and I will continue to think of ways to hit the audience in a positive way through my artwork.”

Other followers of Peachy’s artwork commended the Forbury tribute.

One said it was a “real nice tribute for the town”.

Another said it was “beautiful and powerful.”
