THE MOVEMENTS of the two teenagers accused of murdering Olly Stephens in the minutes before the 13-year-old was fatally stabbed have been revealed in court.

The two defendants, who cannot be named as they are both 14-years-old, were traced through CCTV recordings on the afternoon of January 3, 2020.

Footage played in court showed the two defendants meeting for the first time that day around an hour before Olly Stephens was attacked.

Recordings also showed the duo riding away from the scene on an e-scooter and their movements as the evening went on.

On day four of the trial, Prosecutor Alison Morgan QC played the jury a recording of the pair meeting at a shop before they travelled to Caversham Lock at 2.18pm.

They were then caught on CCTV riding an e-scooter together at 2.26pm. Less than ten minutes later the boys went into a shop on Henley Road in Caversham.

The defendants and a girl then met at around 2.50pm on Cavendish Road.

They are then filmed walking past the Black Horse pub in Emmer Green at 2.53pm. Five minutes later, the two boys and the girl had met with another group of three boys on Grove Road.

By 3.23pm, the group is spotted on CCTV on Blaenant in Caversham.

This is the last sighting of the two defendants before a 999 call is made from Bugs Bottom -- where Olly died -- at 3.46pm by a boy who was part of the group but not one of the defendants.

A minute later the boys are spotted riding away from Bugs Bottom on their e-scooter before being spotted on Hemdean Road at 3.48pm.

Five minutes later, the boy who made the 999 call and Olly’s father are spotted running from the latter’s house towards Bugs Bottom -- Olly had been spotted walking from this location just 19 minutes earlier.

By 4pm the defendants have split up and the youngest accused is spotted riding past the Jolly Anglers pub at this time. Ten minutes later, the girl is picked up by a car and taken away from the area.

A police officer arrives at the girl’s address at 4.28pm asking her for an account of what happened.

It is around this time Olly’s mother calls the girl’s mother about the incident.

At 5.22pm the older defendant is seen boarding a bus on Friar Street in Reading. He travels to Wokingham Road.

Voice clips played in court showed him calling someone to tell them that he ‘loved’ them’ and that ‘something serious had happened.’

The defendant also said the voicenote recipient ‘probably won’t see’ him for ‘a long time’.

Just after 6pm CCTV footage shows the younger defendant heading towards London Road having changed clothes and with a bag in his hand.
