The government have released an update on the number of confirmed cases of the Delta variant of Covid-19 first discovered in India in our area.
Across the country, 50,824 confirmed cases of the Delta variant have now been recorded.

This marks a 46 per cent increase over the previous week, according to health officials.
The Delta variant continues to account for 95% of all coronavirus cases, PHE added.
Public Health England figures show 595 cases of the Delta variant had been recorded in Reading by July 2.

That was 229 more than the 366 cases recorded the week before.
Elsewhere neighbouring town Bracknell has seen cases increase from 174 last month to 344, an increase of 170 cases.
