Royals midfielder Josh Laurent gave one young Reading FC fan the surprise of a lifetime when he turned up at the youngster's front door.
Alfie Smith was unaware that one of his heroes was planning to surprise him with a pair of football boots after being impressed with his support for the side.

Members of Laurent's management team contacted Alfie's dad Matt after seeing photos of Alfie in his new Reading FC kit, adorned with Laurent's name and number.
The midfielder wanted to thank Alfie for his support personally and set up the surprise meeting.

Alfie told the Reading Chronicle: "Opening the door to see Josh was amazing.

"I was very surprised and I didn’t know what to say. He’s a lot taller than I thought he was.
"He’s a very kind man for coming to see me and for giving me a pair of boots.
"It made me very happy.
"The boots are now in my bedroom on my shelf."
