A WANTED man who mounted a pavement and hit a car in a dramatic police chase has been spared jail just months before the birth of his child.
Brendan Bicknell, of Modbury Gardens, Reading, will instead be banned from going out on Friday and Saturday nights following his sentencing for dangerous driving.
The 21-year-old was being hunted by police for a criminal damage enquiry on December 3, 2020 when officers were informed his car was in Reading.

He had pulled over at the Esso petrol station on Berkeley Avenue to fill up his car. As he was paying, two police vehicles had blocked his car to the front and the back.
But after getting back into his Volkswagen Golf, Bicknell reversed into the police car behind him and then managed to squeeze in between the police vehicle in front of him and a petrol pump.
The 21-year-old then drove onto Rose Kiln Lane before moving onto the A33 where there was heavy traffic, according to prosecutor Victoria Lovett.
A court heard how police pursued Bicknell before he mounted a pavement and hit a Vauxhall Astra in a bid to flee from officers.
He then drove through a red traffic light on Craddock Road and overtook traffic at temporary lights.

Summing up, Ms Lovett said Bicknell had “no regard” for other road users.
Police lost Bicknell amongst the chaos and later found his car discarded on Newcastle Road.
It was not until late April of this year that Bicknell was arrested and charged.
Defending, Jyoti Wood said Bicknell accepted how “upsetting” the owner of the car he damaged must have been following the incident and that he had “genuine remorse” for his actions.
Addressing Recorder Bate-Williams, the Judge, Ms Wood pleaded with him for a suspended sentence.

She told the Judge that his partner, who is due to give birth in the coming months, was in the public gallery and that if he were to be there for his child’s birth it would be “momentous” for him.
The barrister laid the blame for his actions on a family feud which had affected his behaviour.
She said: “He admits this offending is out of character.”
Sentencing, Recorder Bate-Williams told Bicknell his driving was “dangerous to other road users” and that his actions were “aggressive.”
He claimed he had a “disregard” of speed limits and that it was “fortunate that no injuries were caused.”
The Judge handed Bicknell an eight-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months after he admitted to dangerous driving, two counts of failing to stop after a road accident and driving without insurance.
