A FORMER Newbury police constable is in hot water after testing positive for cannabis while on duty.
Christopher Howarth, previously based at Newbury, is accused of breaching the Standards of Professional Behaviour in relation to Discreditable Conduct.

The ex-cop is alleged to have been unfit to carry out his responsibilities as a police constable having tested positive for cannabis while on duty.
Mr Howarth is set to appear before a police misconduct hearing next month.

If it is proven the former police constable did breach police standards, his actions would amount to gross misconduct.
The hearing will be chaired by Thames Valley Police’s Chief Constable John Campbell at the force’s headquarters in Kidlington, Oxford, on Friday, September 3.
