THE COUNTY is set to sizzle in a 12 day heatwave hotter than the Algarve this Saturday.

Residents should make the most of the weather with a hot plume expected to sweep in from Spain bringing scorching temperatures in Berkshire.

According to weather forecasters, the bank-holiday weekend will be 'dominated by high pressure' resulting in sunny spells and temperatures 'likely to be rather warm'.

Currently, BBC weather says the temperature on Saturday will reach highs of 21C with Sunday also seeing temperatures in the 20s.

Sarah Kent, a Met Office forecaster, told the PA news agency: “High pressure is dominating this week bringing mostly settled conditions with variable amounts of cloud.

“However, there will be a north-easterly breeze coming in from the North Sea making it feel colder for some regions especially later on in the week.

“Where there is sun, particularly on Wednesday, temperatures could reach highs of 24C in England and Wales, while western areas in Scotland and Northern Ireland could be up to 26C.

“This all depends on the amount of cloud some regions see.”

The Met Office has issued their predictions for the last weekend of August.

There will be high pressure resulting in fine and settled weather.

Temperatures are likely to be rather warm in the west but near average and cool in the east below any persistent cloud.

Dry with bright or sunny spells on Thursday and Friday. Feeling cooler with a fresh northeasterly breeze. Largely dry and bright on Saturday, with the risk of a few showers.
