Reading are tracking 22-year-old forward Adolfo Gaich.
The Argentinian striker currently plies his trade for CSKA Moscow and has attracted attention from West Ham and Leeds over the summer.
The Reading Chronicle understands the Royals have been keen on Gaich for several weeks but have been unable to approach the Russian club as a result of financial restraints.
Any move, at this point, would be a loan deal as the club look to fill the void left by Lucas Joao and Yakou Meite, both of whom are currently facing lengthy spells on the sidelines through injury.
Gaich is a player of a similar mould to both Meite and Joao.
