Reading FC are on the verge of signing two new players with Champions League experience, The Chronicle understands.
Croatian midfielder Alen Halilovic is set to be first through the doors at the Select Car Leasing stadium, with Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman expected to follow pending a medical.
Halilovic is currently a free agent having played 17 times for Birmingham City last season.
The 25-year-old has experience across the top leagues in Europe after having plied his trade for Dinamo Zagreb, Barcelona’s B team, Hamburg, Las Palmas and Heerenveen.
In 2012 he made a Champions League appearance for Dinamo Zagreb, becoming the club’s youngest ever player to appear in the competition.
Baba Rahman spent part of the 2020/2021 season on loan at Greek side PAOK from Chelsea.
The 27-year-old Ghanaian defender appeared for his parent club in the Champions League in September 2016 playing the full 90 minutes in a 4-0 win at home to Maccabi Tel-Aviv.
Neither signing has been officially confirmed by the Royals yet but the Chronicle understands the deals are imminent.
