An indoor alcohol and food market could come to Richfield Avenue, with a licence application submitted to the council for a temporary venue.
‘Market Yard II: Reading Printworks’ would be run by the same people who put on the Market Yard outdoor food and drinks event earlier this year at Hills Meadow Car Park.
The company behind it, T & M Leisure Reading Limited, have submitted plans to Reading Borough Council (RBC) to run an indoor market serving booze and food at 2-12 Tessa Road from October 18, 2021, to January 1, 2022 – just under 11 weeks.

RBC received the application on August 17, with the closing date for representations from local authorities or residents on September 14.
Market Yard launched this year, taking place over several weekends in May and June, with the company gaining Temporary Events Notices (TENs) to run the outdoor food and drinks market, which also featured live music, from Hills Meadow Car Park.
The outdoor market held its last event on June 6 but said in a Facebook post on June 18: “We can’t wait to come back bigger and better than ever before – we’ve got some serious plans in place that will blow you away”.
Market Yard had a promotion on pints of Jubel which meant 10p of every drink sold went to Launchpad, selling 4,431 pints of Jubel were sold during the last few weeks of the market and donating £443.10 to Launchpad.

The building is just off Richfield Avenue and close to the site where to Reading Festival takes place every August.
