MORE THAN £4,500 has been raised for a much-loved arts centre in Reading in the hopes of improving equipment as well as making the site Covid-safe.
The Rising Sun Arts Centre, Silver Street, Reading, launched a crowd-funding page in July this year in a bid to raise funds for improved ventilation, lighting, and for a PA and other sound equipment.

On the fundraising website, a spokesman said: "One thing that the pandemic has taught us is that there are big changes we need to make before things can go back to running events at full capacity, when the building - especially the main room - isn’t very well ventilated.
"This was something we were always aware of pre-Covid, but now it is something we absolutely need to implement to help keep our volunteers, our community and our artists safe."
The site was closed during the coronavirus lockdown, and launched the fundraiser not long after re-opening to the public in July this year.
