A MAN has appeared in court accused of causing death by dangerous driving after he allegedly knocked over a pedestrian in a BMW that was being pursued by police.
Aaron Clare, of no fixed abode, was charged with killing Kevin Burgess on the Bath Road in Southcote on May 23, 2020.

The incident cured when a man driving a blue BMW failed to stop for police and crashed into a pedestrian, Mr Burgess, who was aged 41 at the time.
Clare was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by driving whilst disqualified.
The 33-year-old appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court today via video link from HMP Coldingley in Surrey.
Here, a judge adjourned the hearing so it can be dealt with at Reading Crown Court.

The judge said: “Because of the serious nature of the offences in this case we have no choice but to send this to the Crown Court.”
Clare will appear at Reading Crown Court for a plea and case management hearing on Monday, October 25.
He was remanded in custody following his appearance at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, August 22.
