A Hungerford woman has been spared jail after she was caught selling pets that did not exist to animal-loving customers.
Katie Miles-Tucker, of The Granthams, Lambourn, Hungerford, admitted to one count of fraud by false representation after purporting to sell the animals between May and August 2020.

A court filing revealed the 32-year-old would ‘sell an animal to each of them [the victims], intending to make a gain by asking for deposits for the animals when she knew she could not provide an animal to any of them.”
At a sentencing on Wednesday, September 15, Miles-Tucker was handed a 20-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months.

However, she was made to pay £780 in compensation to her victims.
She was also told to pay a £128 victim surcharge.
