The largest travelling vintage funfair in the world is coming to Reading this weekend (October 16).
With rides dating from 1890 to 1960, Carters Steam Fair will transform Prospect Park into a blast from the past.
It’s the first time it has toured since 2019, after last years family fun was cancelled due to Covid-19.
Carters Steam Fair was set up by show promotors John and Anna Carter in 1977 and is made up entirely of vintage rides.

John passed away after being diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2000, but his enthusiasm and vision remains a guiding force for his children who inherited the fair.
The fair promises to showcase the “thrills of a bygone era” including rock’n’roll music, steam engines, a lilting fairground organ and the aroma of doughnuts, candy floss and coal.

The fair opens on Saturday between 12pm and 10pm and Sunday between 12pm and 8pm; and you can buy ride tickets in advance.
There will be a free firework display at 9pm on Saturday.
