A WOMAN who told four different people she needed money to get a taxi to visit her sick child in hospital has been jailed for more than six months.
Amanda Basden, of Coronation Square, Reading, admitted to four counts of fraud after lying about why she wanted the money.
Court files show that on April 5 and April 6 2021, in Calcot, the 41-year-old told four people she needed to get to the Royal Berkshire Hospital to see her sick baby.

But the court documents make clear “this was not the case” and Basden was “intending to make a gain, namely money”, for herself.
In one instance, she told a man she needed to get to the RBH urgently as a doctor required her to sign consent papers relating to her sick child.

She was jailed for 30 weeks as the offences were committed while she was serving a community order.
Basden appeared at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Monday, October 15.
