Although no details have been given about what kind of food will be on offer, the planning application does include designs showing chips in a cone.
New signage would be installed, as well as an extractor vent panel at the back of the unit, while the interior would be renovated including a new disabled toilet.
The restaurant/takeaway would open from 10am to 11pm, Monday-Saturday, and 10am to 7pm on Sundays.
Additionally, plans have been submitted to open a new restaurant on Caversham Road.
Kamal’s Kitchen, at 141 Caversham Road, would take over part of the old Standard Tandoori site and would open from 11am to 11pm – seven days per week.
Again, there is little detail about what the new restaurant will offer.
There are also plans for a new cafe on Oxford Road called Poseidon Cafe.
It will be at 355 Oxford Road, if approved, at a former catering company unit.

Many new restaurants have opened this year in Reading, including Gordon Ramsay’s Street Burger, The Coconut Tree, Jollibee, Wendy’s, ThaiGrr! and Wingstop.
