A PROVISIONAL date has been set for the trial of four men charged in connection with the death of a Tilehurst man.
A 22-year-old was fatally stabbed on Romany Lane on Halloween (October 31).
Since then, police have made a number of arrests and charges in relation to the tragic death.
Here’s what we know so far.
What happened?
Police were called to Romany Lane in Tilehurst at 10.40pm on October 31 after reports of a stabbing.
The victim, a man in his twenties, died at the scene.

A post-mortem revealed he died from a stab wound to the chest.
What did police say about the incident?
Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Andy Howard, of the Major Crime Unit, said he believes it was a "targeted incident."
“We have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man last night," he said.
“Our thoughts remain with his family and friends at this difficult time.

“At this time we believe that this was a targeted incident and that there is no risk to the wider public.”
Who was the victim?
The victim was Reece Heffernan, who was 22-years-old and lived in Tilehurst.

A pair of boxing gloves were also left in memory of the victim.
Have any charges been made?
Five people have so far been charged in connection with Mr Heffernan’s death, as of Friday, November 12.
Tuviah Thompson-Hordle, 18, of Brant Close, Arborfield, has been charged with one count of murder and one count of possession of a knife in a public place.
Hamzah Ahmed, 18 of Jubilee Road, Reading, has been charged with one count of murder and one count of possession of a knife in a public place.

A 17-year-old from Earley, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with one count of murder, one count of perverting the course of justice and one count of possession of the bladed article.
Umar Arshad, 23, of Waterloo Road, Wokingham, has been charged with perverting the course of justice.
Carlos Daniel Capitao Mor Da Fonseca, 23, of Fawn Drive, Three Mile Cross, has been charged with murder, possession of a bladed article and perverting the course of justice.
All five have been remanded in custody.
Has anyone else been arrested?
An 18-year-old man from Reading, who was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender, and an 18-year-old woman from Reading and a 21-year-old woman from Wokingham, who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have all been released on conditional bail.
When will a trial go ahead?
A provisional trial date has been set for Monday, June 27.
Her Honour Judge Norton said the trial date given was listed more than seven months away because of the “sheer number” of trials with juveniles set to take place at Reading Crown Court in the coming month.

The judge said it may be possible to bring the trial forward a few weeks, but this remains to be seen.
She added that the trial is expected to last five-to-six weeks.
The provisional trial date was set during a hearing in which the four defendants appeared at Reading Crown Court on Monday, November 8.
