FROM tomorrow, face coverings will be mandatory in certain locations once again.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced masks will be needed in shops and on public transport in response to the emergence of the Omicron variant in the UK.
The new variant contains a large number of mutations that scientists believe could make it more transmissible.
Shoppers and commuters will be forced to wear face masks again from 4am on Tuesday, November 30.

Britons who do not wear a face mask in light of the new rules face a £200 fine, according to the Evening Standard.
This could rise to £400 and £800 for second and third offences.
But for those caught without face masks during previous lockdowns, fines were much larger.
Here’s how much Berkshire residents were forced to pay after being caught short.
Sultan Basharat, 34, of London Road, Reading, was fined £1,760 after entering KFC in Reading without a face mask on February 12, 2021.
This was during England’s second national lockdown.
He was also forced to pay £266 in court fees.
Fined the same amount was Aatir Jabid, 23, of Western Road, Southall in London after he visited Chaiwala Coffee Shop in Slough on Christmas Day without a face covering or reasonable excuse.

He was ordered to pay at Oxfordshire Magistrates Court on June 1.
Cristain Vergea, 22, of Snape Spur, Slough, was in a ‘transport hub’ at Wembley Park without a face mask on May 21, 2021.
This was during the late stages of England’s second national lockdown.
He was fined £660 and made to pay £291 in court fees.
Muhammad Usman, 23, of High Street, Slough, was fined £660 for appearing at Marble Arch without a face mask on March, 26, 2021.
This was during England’s second national lockdown.
He was made to pay £291 in court fees.
