POLICE have named a man who was found fatally stabbed in a Reading property this week prompting officers to launch a murder investigation.
Police identified the victim as David Allen, aged 77, today (Friday, December 3), after his body was discovered in Elgar Road on Wednesday.

The force said Mr Allen died from shock and haemorrhage as a result of a stab wound to his chest, according to a post-mortem examination.
A 37-year-old man from Reading, who was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody.

Mr Allen’s next of kin are being supported by specially trained Family Liaison Officers.
Police were called to Elgar Road at 8.10pm. Mr Allen was pronounced dead at the scene.
