A primary school in Reading has closed down this week after a number of staff tested positive for Covid-19.
The Coombes Primary School in School Road, Arborfield Cross, announced in a letter to parents on Friday, December 11, that students will be learning from home this week.
The letter, seen by the Reading Chronicle, said: "Over recent days we have seen a significant rise in the number of suspected or confirmed cases of Covid-19 across the school. As a result, on Friday Year 5/6 parents were informed that their children would move to Remote Learning provision for the initial part of next week. For all other children, the leadership team continue to operate as normal."

Last week, the school saw an 'increase in the number of staff testing positive either through PCR or LFD tests', according to the letter.
Parents were informed that the office team were told to self-isolate as do most of the senior leaders of the school.
Therefore, due to a "lack of operational capacity the school is unable to open safely to any pupils".
Announcing that all children have to switch to Remote Learning from home for the final week before the Christmas holidays.
Adding: "We have been advised by UKHSA (previously Public Health England) to ask all children to be taken for a PCR test as soon as possible to prevent the onward transmission."
