GO Outdoors Reading, the UK's biggest outdoor supply store, is closing down and relocating.
According to sources who wish to be unnamed, the store in Brunel Retail Park, Whitley, is being relocated due to redevelopment of the site.
This comes after the council approved plans in June 2021 which will see either the whole or half of Brunel Retail Park demolished and turned into a logistics warehouse.
The final trading day is expected to be 13 February; however, a new site is yet to be decided upon.
This has since been corroborated when the Reading Chronicle were able to view a message in the employee group chat detailing “the last day of trade is the 13th February then one week to send out the rest of the stock.”
The source went on to say: “They are meant to be moving location, but no-one knows where, so it is a bit up in the air at the moment.”
The store has been at its current location since March 2018, with the next nearest store in Basingstoke.
JD Sports, who own GO Outdoors, had put the chain into administration in 2020 however quickly brought it back for £56.5m.
