Three muggers beat a man on the bankside of the River Kennet in Reading on Thursday.
They left the victim with bruising and swelling to his face and stolen his wallet.
Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault, which took place at 9.45pm behind Fobney Street.

The three offenders were described as young men, wearing puffer jackets and dark clothing.
All were on bikes.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Jennifer Cox, based at Reading police station, said: “I would like to appeal to anybody who may have been in the area and witnessed this assault to please get in touch.
“You can get in touch by either making a report online or by calling 101 quoting reference number 43220018368.
“Alternatively, you can anonymously call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
